New York City Peace Walk
For Peace in the Middle
East
October 7th
On October 7th
there will be a silent peace walk for peace in the middle east.
Web site Info:
http://nypeacewalk.org
Green Island Sangha has many members
who will partake in this walk. On that day, we will be having our
regular meditation sit at St. Ignatius. After the sit we will have
lunch (bring a vegetarian/vegan lunch) and then leave for New York
City.
To attend the opening events you
must register at the website address above. You can still join the
walk if you do not register, but will not be able to attend the
opening events. (There is limited availability for this event)
The opening events begin at 2:30 at
the NY Academy of Medicine. See the website for details.
Some important information:
The walk begins on the West side of
the Park and then crosses to the East side and walks from 101st
down to the Sheep Meadow which is approximately located between 67 &
68th street. (See map on the web site) As
you can see this is a long distance, and we will then have to get
back to where we have parked. Therefore, we will probably be
traveling back uptown by either bus, or cab.
You can join the walk at any of the
locations on the walk map located at the website. Our sangha will
meet at meeting point east which is by the academy of Medicine at the
park entrance. Just join in when you see us. Some people may not
be able to make the entire walk and, that’s ok but you will have to
meet us back at the cars. (unless you travel solo)
RAIN - we are going rain or shine,
yet there will not be a sit prior at St. Ignatius if it rains. Check
the Sanga website.
